Durham—— Duke Advanced Attacker Dyson Williams He was named the ACC Offensive Player of the Week after scoring seven points against Syracuse on Saturday. It’s his first weekly recognition in 2023 and the Blue Devils’ sixth this season.
Williams led Duke’s stellar offense with six goals and one assist in an 18-15 win over No. 19 Syracuse on Saturday. The left-handed attacker’s six goals marked his third sock trick (six goals) and 27th career hat-trick. Duke’s win gave the Blue Devils an ACC title and pushed Williams to fourth on the Division I scoring list this season.
The Oshawa, Ont., native scored at least one goal in each quarter and hit the game-winner to prevent Syracuse from going 15-13 in the fourth quarter to make it 4-1. 0 to within two points.
In the third quarter, the attack time was getting closer and closer, and Williams received a call from tommy sherin And threw a behind-the-back shot to the Syracuse goalie to extend Duke’s lead to 15-9. His assist late in the fourth quarter helped Duke seal the victory.
Williams has a career-high 47 goals, second in the ACC and fourth nationally. He’s three goals shy of becoming the 17th player in Duke history to score 50 goals in a single season. He has scored in 17 consecutive games and has scored at least one goal in 51 of his 54 career appearances.
Duke is back at No. 1 in the national rankings this week and ends the regular season with Merrimack in the Battle of Bethpage. The Blue Devils and Braves will face off at Bethpage High School at 1 p.m.
